Pressure Vessel Steel Plate

Date:2026-08-18
Pressure vessel steel plate is a special type of steel used to manufacture pressure-bearing equipment such as boilers and pressure vessels. Its key difference from ordinary steel plates lies in the fact that every performance indicator directly relates to the operational safety of the equipment under high pressure, high temperature, and even corrosive environments.

What is Pressure Vessel Steel Plate?

This type of steel plate needs to simultaneously meet the requirements of high strength, sufficient toughness (to prevent brittle fracture), good weldability, and corrosion resistance. It covers a wide operating temperature range, from steel plates suitable for low-temperature environments of -20℃ to high-temperature steels that can be used at 500℃ or even higher.

Internationally Accepted Grades for Pressure Vessel Steel Plate

1. China (GB)

Representative Standard: GB/T 713

Common Grade Examples: Q245R, Q345R, Q370R, 15CrMoR, 14Cr1MoR

Main Characteristics and Application Scenarios: Represented by "Yield Strength/Chemical Composition + the first letter R of the pinyin for 'yield'". The standard is being updated to align with international standards and incorporate more high-strength steel grades.

2. USA (ASME/ASTM)

Representative Standards: ASME SA-xx / ASTM Axx

Common Grade Examples: SA516 Gr.70 (common carbon steel), SA387 Gr.11/22 (Cr-Mo steel), SA515 Gr.60/70 (medium-high temperature carbon steel)

Main Features and Applications: Widely used in international engineering projects. ASME is the most commonly used standard for pressure vessel design and manufacturing, while ASTM A20/A20M are general requirements standards for steel plates.

3. Europe (EN)

Representative Standards: EN 10028 series

Common Grade Examples: P295GH, P355GH (carbon steel), 16Mo3 (heat-resistant steel), P265GH

Main Features and Applications: "GH" usually refers to high-temperature steel. EN 10028-2, -3, etc., specify different steel grades.

4. Japan (JIS)

Representative Standard: JIS G 3115

Common Grade Examples: SPV355, SPV490, SPV235, SPV315

Main Features and Applications: SPV is an abbreviation for "Steel Plate for Vessel". The numbers represent tensile strength or yield strength related indicators, and there are specific thickness limitations.
